Handmade by Stephen McRae so dimensions, colour and shape may vary. This popular design has its roots firmly set in day trips to the seaside. Time spent looking at the seaweed Kelp, lying flat on the sandy shoreline as the tide goes out. Imagining the dance of the Kelp as the tide returns once again refloating in the strong tidal currents swirling around. These free-flowing forms capture a moment of movement and dance of this seaweed. Adding extra weight at the top of the fronds with an organic roughly free formed scroll, catches the wind giving a lovely subtle kinetic aspect to the design.
Each seaweed is totally unique because of the random way it is formed and put together. Which is why this design is one of my favourites not just to look at but to make as well. It is also perfect for adding a personal touch by personalising an order with an addition of some poetic words or memory of a loved one. Giving the opportunity to make this a real poignant addition to your home or garden.
Finish
Available as a rusty oiled and waxed finish as well as the very popular rust free Galvanised and acid etched finish, this design can work as either a centre piece or lost among the herbaceous borders revealing itself and structure each year as the seasons turn.
